No one knows Im here
All day I stand
with nobody by my side
All I want is a friend
All I need is someone to talk to
After all this years
I don't even have one
Every day, they walk past me
They laugh, scream and shout
Can't they see Im the odd one out
All I do is stand alone
They never asked me to play
What should I do?
I have nobody in my life
They say a friend is one who believes in you
when you have ceased to believe in yourself.
A friend is someone who walks in
When the rest of the world walks out
A friend is all I need
To find the happiness I have been yearning for
All my life, I have been alone
I never had the chance
To tell someone my secrets
that I have been keeping this horrible years
But no one cares
Everybody goes on with their lives
Living me alone
Its like I am invisble
Maybe one day
I will find a friend
That would stick with me till the very end
For now, I shall lean on the wall
Waiting for the right one to comeBut for now, I wonderIf they will miss meWhen I'm gone

What is your impression of the loner?I feel that the loner is a boy who is anti-social and a rather quiet boy. He does not seem to be trying to make new friends despite his desire to do so. He also seems to be very different than the children playing in the playground that are very lively and cheerful in their little groups. Instead, he just leans on the playground wall doing bored tricks to entertain himself such as "smacking his hands against the bricks", "tracing patterns with his feet" and scuffing them to make the tarmac squeak" and many more to entertain himself from getting too bored. Being timid, he "leans on the playground wall"all day "keeping a look-out" for the people in the playground. He comes to the playground often probably wishing for the day when a kind soul comes and asks him to play with him or her so that the boy would not be someone with nobody to talk to. The phrase "His loneness is his shell and shield" tells me that he is probably too shy or have this phobia of conversing with people. Perhaps, this is why he is never found playing happily with the children in the playground. Most probably the scrawls "watch this space" was written by the boy himself. This tells me that he will be back one day. All we know is that the boy is an exceptionally lonely one probably because the lack of presence of his parents and that he may never change. Or will he?What is your impression of the children? They seem to be enjoying themselves in the playground in their own cliques unlike the loner who has no one to talk to. They seem to lit up the playground with their "shouting, laughter and song". They are also very aware of the presence of the loner because they" pass him running, skipping, walking" "in slow huddled groups, low talking" and "never speak". This implies that the children do gossip about the loner. My guess is that they are curious about the loner but do not have the initiative to invite him to play along with them. Perhaps, they do not accept the loner and do not want him to be their friend or fear that they will be classed as loners too if they accepted the loner as a friend to play with.

Q1
Do you symphatize with the Joker?
I do symphatise with the Joker as I feel that all his wrongdoings are all the results of his troubled childhood which involved child abuse and self-mutilation as well as the challenges that he faced throughout his life. In fact I feel a deep compassion for him because of what he became was a result of his dark past. In my opinion, the reason he became The Joker was because he became insane as he had to recreate himself each day to cope with the chaotic flow of the modern of urban life . This all resulted him in being the violent sociopath and a goofy trickster-thief that he was portrayed in The Dark Night. In the movie,he tells gruesome stories about how he acquired the scars on his face, the result of child abuse. The Joker had a normal life before. He had love for a wife and an unborn child but that all vanished when he found out that his pregnant wife died in a household accident along with his unborn child as told in The Killing Joke that was featured in the official DC Comics publication, Who's Who in the DC Universe.Imagine that happening to you. Obviously, you will feel distraught and overwhelmed with grief. That was what happened to The Joker, only he suffered a lot more.He lost the love of his life and soon, his child to be. Maybe that is why he became The Joker;he wanted to forget the grief he felt and to him the only way to do that was to kill people. In the graphic novel The Joker: Devil's Advocate, the Joker is reported to have killed well over 2,000 people. Despite having murdered enough people to get the death penalty thousands of times over, he is always found not guilty by reason of insanity. This tells me that he became insane because of what happened during his childhood where he was abused and exposed to self-mutilation as told in the movie The Dark Knight. In conclusion, now that I know his dark past, I understand why he became the Joker; he had a dark and very tragic past that he would never forget and that is the reason why he became the Joker.
Q2
What have you learnt from this lesson?
I learnt that we should not judge a character based on its looks. Take a look at the Joker. He may seem to be the villain in The Dark Night but if you look into his character in depth, he is actually a normal person like you and me.It's just that he became a lunatic because of his troubled and dark past. I also learnt that different people has different characters. For example, Batman follows a moral code and does not kill people for no reason while the Joker is a sadomasochist who enjoys killing. Batman lives in the past with a solid background while Joker rejects his past and never tells his story the same twice.

Quotes
At a single strain of music,
the scent of a flower,
or even one glimpse of a path of moonlight lying fair upon a Summer sea,
the barriers crumble and fall.
Through the long corridors the ghosts of the past walk unforbidden,
hindered only by broken promises, dead hopes, and dream-dust.
-Myrtle Reed
In all secrets there is a kind of guilt,
however beautiful or joyful they may be,
or for what good end they may be set to serve.
Secrecy means evasion,
and evasion means a problem to the moral mind.
-Gilbert Parker
